The College

Jayaraj Annapackiam College for Women, the first Autonomous college in Theni District, reaccredited with ¡§A¡¨ grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council in 2008, the only college with first grade under Mother Teresa Women¡¦s University, Kodaikanal. The college is a Minority institution run by the sisters of St. Anne of Tiruchirapalli. JAC is located 2 k.m. away from the west of Periyakulam, Theni Road on a sylvan hillock Mount St. Anne, nestling in lush green, facing the imposing Kodaikanal hill.

The College campus is endowed with an atmosphere of serenity and quietude conducive to studies and Research. The College offers 11 UG programme, 8 PG programme, 2 M. Phil programme and a number of certificate, Diploma courses under choice Based Credit System with need based, relevant, learner-centered, skills and job oriented curriculum.

The  Department

                  The PG Department of Zoology has high academic ranks, rich in teaching and research experiences. 60% of our faculty members have been awarded Doctorate and 20% have registered for Ph.D. in the following fields of specializations. The Dept. has built necessary infrastructural facility to carry out research in Ornithology, Herpetology, Environmental Biotechnology, Immunology, Aquaculture, Haematology and Entomology. It has also introduced specialization in Clinical Nutrition and dietetics funded by University Grants Commission. M. Phil. programme was introduced in 2005 and will be elevated as Research Department in near future.

About the Venue:
        Periyakulam, the mango city is situated  approximately 80 Kms  West of Madurai, about 60 Kms from Dindigul, 64 from Kodaikanal in TamilNadu. The town is well connected by hi - tech bus services from Chennai and Bangalore.

Call for papers

Contributory research papers/posters arising out of original work of ongoing/unpublished work are invited from scientist, research scholars and students. Filled in registration forms should reach the convenor by post/ email on or before 18th February, 2009. The abstract should be typed in Times New Roman, size 12 along with CD of the paper.

Registration fee:
faculty/Physician/NGOS Rs. 300/-
Scholars/students Rs. 200/-

          All payments should be made by Demand Draft in favour of the Principal, Jayaraj Annapackiam College for Women, Payable at Indian Overseas Bank, J.A College Extension center and send to the convenor on or before 18/02/2009.
