THE INSTITUTION

The sisters of St. Anne of Trichirapalli, founded the institution in 1971 with a noble aspiration of uplifting the moral and educational standards of the women in and around periyakulam which is largely rural and economically backward. The college is situated on a hillock, Mt.St. Anne which is 2 km away on the west of Periyakulam. The college was granted autonomy in 2004. NAAC reacrredited the college with ‘A’ grade in 2008.

THE DEPARTMENT

The Department of Chemistry has been rendering a great service to the students community for the last 30 years. Our staff actively involve in research activities: present papers in seminars, publish articles in journals, doing Minor Research Project and serve as resource persons. The need based and job oriented papers introduced develop the students’ interest in research, equip them with the requirements to pursue higher studies and make them employable.

OBJECTIVES OF THE SEMINAR

The national seminar aims to expose the students, research scholars and faculty members to the recent and emerging developments in chemistry. The knowledge of recent trends in chemistry will develop the interest of the delegates in the specific branches of chemistry. It facilitates the exchange of ideas and knowledge. The benefits of the seminar will not be confined only to the elite but taken to the society for its betterment.

THRUST OF THE SEMINAR

Nano chemistry, Photo chemistry, Electro chemistry, Green chemistry, Drug designing and synthetic organic chemistry.


CALL FOR PAPERS

The last date for the submission of the abstract of your research papers neatly typed in Times, 12 fonts with in 250 - 500 words and addressed to the convener is on 13th February 2009.
The despatch of hard and soft copy of the full paper not exceeding 5 pages, on or before 20th February 2009 will make it feasible for the preparation of proceedings. For papers of joint authorship, author name presenting the paper should be underlined and the name of the principal author should be marked with asteristic (*).

Scholars and Faculty : Rs. 200
DD should be in favour of

Registration form and DD may be sent to the convener.
The fee covers lunch, refreshment and seminar kit.

ACCOMODATION

Accomodation will be provided within college campus to the outstation lady participant on request. However, necessary measures will be taken for those who need accomodation in hotels

TRANSPORT FACILITIES

Frequent bus service is available from all major cities to Periyakulam. Madurai is 80 kms on the East and Dindigul 60 kms on the north of Periyakulam. All main cities are connected by rail route with Madurai and Dindigul.
Picnic resorts such as Kodaikanal, Sothuparai Dam, Vaigai Dam, Kumbakarai falls, Thekkadi reservoir, Suruli falls are around the college.
