THEME OF THE CONFERENCE

HEIs, in general, are expected to play a significant role in imparting quality education to provide competent man power to the nation and offering relevant education for the development of the local community.  These expectations have become challenges in the present scenario and they are new and very specific for two reasons: (1) Fast changing profile of the nation and (2) Global academic change. Hence it is necessary to bring about constant qualitative improvement in the system of higher education to make teaching & learning more learner and skill centric; to promote institution and industry interface; to assure quality in examination system, to keep abreast of other institutions through ICT.
With this rationale, the seminar aims to disseminate knowledge and information among the academics, administrators, scholars, social thinkers on the issues related with quality and relevance in higher education and the new challenges of HEIs to respond to them effectively and to evolve different strategies for strengthening the higher educational institutions to sustain the momentum of the nation¡¦s growth.

OBJECTIVES OF THE SEMINAR

1. To enlighten the faculty on the new challenges prevailing in the system of Higher Education in the context of fast-changing academic environment in India.
2. To deliberate on the mechanism for constant quality enhancement.
3. To focus on specific challenges of the HEIs in rural areas.
4. To reflect on the various issues concerning the quality of education: Revamping of curriculum, integration of ICT in teaching, learning, evaluation, developing academia-industry interaction, promoting curriculum-extension interface and dynamic governance.
5. To discuss on the mode of value education courses/ programmes to respond to the courses/ programmes to respond to the ethical needs in the present market- driven economy.


OUTCOME EXPECTED

1. Evolving strategies to sustain the momentum of national growth by academic reforms- need based and learner and skill centric curriculum development.
2. Developing innovative practices to enhance and sustain quality in HEIs in rural areas.
3. Framing methods for institution: industry interaction and curriculum- extension interface.
4. Devising methods to promote excellence through quality education.

PAPER PRESENTATION

Papers related to the theme of the conference are invited for presentation. Papers conveying innovative ideas/ case studies are welcome. The papers may be submitted both in hard and soft copy on or before 28th Feb, 2009. The complete papers with all particulars may be sent to the following email ids iqac@annejac.com or principal@annejac.com as e-mail attachments.

ACCOMMODATION

The Accommodation for outstation participants will be arranged on request in college guest house with minimum facilities at free of cost. In Theni, 14 Km away from the college, many hotels are available at a rate ranging from Rs. 200 to 500.

REGISTRATION FEES

Faculty Members        : Rs.200/-
Scholars and students : Rs.150/-
