ABOUT THE COLLEGE:
Jayaraj Annapackiam College for Women, Periyakulam, a synonym for sterling service in the Higher Education of Women, was founded in 1971 with the noble aspiration of uplifting the moral and educational standards of the women of this area which is largely rural and economically backward. Besides Academic excellence, the college aims at personalized education. Jayaraj Annapackiam College carries on her goals and objectives under the guiding spirit of her motto Serve with Love. The college is situated on a hillock, Mount St. Anne which is 2 km away to the west of periyakulam
It has grown into an Autonomous Institution, affiliated to Mother Teresa Women’s University since 2004 and is re-accredited with ‘A’ grade by NAAC in 2008. Within a span of 39 years, the Institution has grown into an Autonomous Institution, offering 11 U.G and 8 P.G courses, 2 research programmes, 3 Diploma/PG Diploma courses and a few Certificate courses.
The college has excellent infrastructure for teaching, learning, research and extension activities. The faculty members enthusiastically update their knowledge and actively participate in research. The Institution has a rich tradition of organizing a number of state and national level seminars in various subjects of contemporary interest. Individual care is given to all the students in the college.
ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT:
The department of Chemistry was established in 1979 with a view of imparting scientific thought among the students and offered PUC and degree courses.
M Sc programme was started in the year 2008.
The department has well qualified and experienced faculty members. The department is equipped with excellent infrastructures, which include hi-tech instruments, research facilities and versatile library. The curriculum and course content is structured to prepare the students to be competitive to enter the job market and also to be successful entrepreneurs. Our staff have been actively involved in research activities and have presented numerous papers in seminars. They have published papers in journals and served as resource persons in other institutions. UGC sponsored minor research projects are carried out in the department.
The department is known for its conduct of intercollegiate and National seminars. It has successfully organized national seminars consecutively for the last three years.
THE CONFERENCE:
This conference forms a platform where academicians, research scholars, faculty and students can exchange their views and ideas and gain greater understanding and update their knowledge of modern innovations and trends in chemistry. We believe this conference will be very useful and motivate many aspiring students to pursue research and also will create awareness to protect Mother Earth among the participants. CALL FOR PAPERS:
Papers are invited for Oral / Poster Presentation The abstract of your research papers (not exceeding 300 words ) neatly typed in Times New Roman, 12 font size and 1.5 line spacing (A4 size ), must be sent to the convener by e-mail on or before 25th January 2010.
The authors are requested to send the full paper not exceeding 4 pages, by e-mail or a hard and soft copy (CD) by post on or before 10th February 2010 for the publication of the proceedings. For papers of joint authorship, author name presenting the paper should be underlined, and the name of the principal author should be marked with (*).
Acceptance will be intimated by 1st February 2010.
REGISTRATION:
Student participants: Rs 150.
Staff and Scholars: Rs 250.
DD should be in favour of Principal, Indian Overseas bank, Jayaraj Annapackiam College for Women (Autonomous), Periyakulam.

ACCOMMODATION:
Accommodation will be provided within the college campus to the outstation lady participants on request. However, necessary help will be given for those who need accommodation in hotels.
TRANSPORT FACILITIES:
Periyakulam is easily reachable by bus from all major cities . The two nearest major cities, Dindigul (60Kms) and Madurai (80 Kms) are connected by rail to all main cities.
Picnic resorts such as Kodaikanal, Sothuparai Dam, Vaigai Dam, Kumbakarai falls and Thekkadi reservoir are close to periyakulam.
