NATIONAL CONFERENCE ON DIGITAL VISION – 2020
(Based on the interaction among the Academic Community involved in Library & Information Science, Computer Science and Management Science) Computer Science or computing science is the study of the theoretical foundations of information and computation. It is frequently described as the systematic study of algorithmic processes that create, describe and transform information. As Library and Information Science deal with the methods and techniques of information retrieval, it relates to the advancement of computer science.
Libraries have been witnessing transition in their set ups, shifting from print to electronic resources, from physical to web access and virtual storage, and from traditional to digital library models. The emerging paradigm is indeed offering user friendly means for access to virtual resources. The academic community welcomes this sort of change and aspires that more and more resources in digital form should become available for desktop access. It provides teaching and research community new opportunity to be engaged in upcoming facilities and programmes such as e – teaching and e – learning. The future libraries should, therefore, be seen as a balance between library with a human face and library with virtual electronic resources.
Management Science is concerned with, developing and applying models and concepts that may prove useful in helping to illuminate management issues and solve managerial problems. Marketing of digital information is the secret of managerial functions. The publishers who disseminate knowledge have great deal with the digital Vision – 2020. Their quality of publication strategy of marketing, pricing models, technological updates, the relationship among themselves provide a better world of change. Staff have to empower themselves to meet the development in their environment. Professional leadership and new models of governance are the very essential factors needed to frame the digital vision – 2020.
