| SARWODEEP was started as an Extension Service Programme of Jayaraj Annapackiam College for Women, Periyakulam, in 1990 to facilitate the integral development of the students and the disadvantaged community. It has become part of the curriculam of our college as Part IV after the conferment of autonomous status to the college since 2004- 2005.

Empowerment of Rural Women to be Agents of Social Change.
Goal
To free the marginalized and weaker sections of rural areas from the shackles of social, political, cultural, educational and economical oppression.
Target Group
Economically and socially backward rural women, illiterates, widows, abandoned women, deserted women, daily wagers,petty traders, landless agribased labourers, disadvantaged children and orphans in the 25 adopted villages form the target group of extension activities.

- Provision of physical facilities – Street Lights, Drinking Water, Transport and Toilet facilities.
- Procurement of Identity Cards for the physically challenged and Pension for the aged and the widows.

- Establishment of Balwadies for the children of the coolies.
- Preparation of balanced diet.
- Advocacy of nature cure.
- Establishment of Vocational Training Centers – Typewriting and Tailoring Institutes, Computer Laboratory and Printing Press.

- The formation of 100 Self-Help Groups with 1200 members.
- Establishment of Cottage Industries and Petty Trades with Loan from Government Schemes and Banks.
- Regulation of daily wages for agri based labourers and coolies.
- Preparation of vermin compost for fields.
- Construction of cost effective houses for the poor.
- Construction of Soak pits for Harvesting Rain Water that won the appreciation of the Honourable President of India, Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam.
- Formation of Kalaikuzhu to create an awareness of Social Evils and AIDS.
- Conduct of Health Camps at the adopted villages.
- Promotion of Social & Religious Integration by celebrating National Festivals and National Important days.
