Students Welfare Programmes

The college provides Orientation, Bridge and Remedial courses to the educationally disadvantaged students to initiate them into regular activities of the college.

Orientation course

A two day orientation programme is conducted for all the 2nd and 3rd year Under Graduate and Post Graduate students at the beginning of the academic year to motivate and reinvigorate them.


Bridge Course

The Bridge course designed and conducted by the Department of English for one week is meant for the new entrants of all the Under Graduate courses. The Objectives of the courses are: to develop written and communicative skills, to ease the hurdles of change of medium of instruction from Tamil to English, to inculcate self –confidence in interacting with people, to shed inhibitions of new entrants and to promote leadership qualities.

Remedial Education

Remedial Education is offered to the academically low achievers, particularly from the most backward rural areas.

Tutorial System

The highlight of the teaching process is the Tutorial System. In this system each staff member is assigned a group of 20 students. Student resume is maintained by faculty members. These students meet their tutors regularly and seek personal as well as academic guidance. The wards entrusted are given academic coaching individually and progress is monitored with progress cards.

Besides the College Union and the departmental associations, the following student centered clubs and programmes groom organizational skill and leadership qualities in students.
